Fourteen political parties that participated in the Osun State governorship election yesterday congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gboyega Oyetola for his victory.

They described the outcome of the polls as legitimate and a reflection of the true wish of Osun people.

They also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free, fair and peaceful election, urging the commission to avoid situations where desperate politicians, who want to win at all cost in their attempt to subvert the electoral process, overwhelm its officials.

Representative of the parties include Adegoke Adefare (New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP); Mrs. Adebayo Rasidat (People Alliance for National Development and Liberty Party (PANDEL); Kolawole Ojonla (People for Democratic Change (PDC); Wole Adedoyin (Hope Democratic Party (HDP), Victor Olapade Better Nigeria Progressive Party (BNPP); Femi Adeniran of CAC Party and Raphael Faremi (Masses Movement of Nigeria (MMN).

Others are, Pa Fasorepo G.O. of the National Conscience Party (NCP); Omojaro Dapo of Legacy Party of Nigeria (LPN); Mojeed Folorunso of Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP) and Kunle Oyerinde of Mass Action Joint Alliance Party (MAJA).

In a statement issued yesterday, they said Oyetola’s victory was a well-fought democratic battle that stretched all the candidates and kept everyone on the edge of the seat until it came out with a dramatic denouement at the tail end.

While congratulating the Osun people for freely exercising their democratic rights in choosing their governor, they condemned what they described as monetisation of the election by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through votes buying.

“We are not unaware of some lapses, including the bogus votes returned in Ede, Iwo and Ile-Ife. The results from Ede was more than the registered voters”

“While the rest of us were busy fashioning out strategy on how to connect with the people, PDP was busy spending money to buy voters’ cards, buy votes and corruptly influence security and electoral officials. This is condemnable, and we condemn it in its entirety,” they said.

They further enjoined Oyetola to run an inclusive government and regard the entire state as his constituency.
