Police to hold sensitisation seminar with stakeholders

In a bid to have smooth and violence-free elections, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, has invited major stakeholders to a one-day seminar on August 30 at Osogbo, the state capital.

In a bid to have smooth and violence-free elections, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, has invited major stakeholders to a one-day seminar on August 30 at Osogbo, the state capital.

The IGP’s Principal Staff Officer in Lagos, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed the theme of the seminar as: “The Imperativeness of Police Collaboration with Essential Stakeholders: Towards Secured, Free and Credible Elections in Nigeria.”

The state governor, Rauf Aregbesola would declare the seminar open.“It is meant to kick-start numerous security enlightenment programmes, lined up to sensitise and enlist the support of essential stakeholders towards securing 2019 General elections,” Ojajuni stated.

The Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, will be the Chairman/Moderator at the event, while the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi would be the Royal Father of the Day.

Other notable guests, including the National Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, officials of all the political parties, sister security agencies, interest groups and opinion leaders, would also attend the seminar.Also expected are foreign missions, including the United States, Britain, African Union, European Union, local and foreign election observers.
