An indigenous provider to the building industry, Aframero Limited has called for government’s intervention in the furniture and design sector to make it self-sufficiency in local production.

The Managing Director, Aframero Limited, Mrs Yetunde Oghomienor who spoke at the company’s customers’ forum in Lagos, noted that 2016 has been an interesting year due to the cost of foreign exchange and challenges with importation.

She explained that this year’s forum was staged to appreciate customers and introduce premium product furniture fittings and architectural hardware brand from Hafele.

“For discerning furniture manufacturers and specifiers looking for high quality panel products furniture fittings and hardware, we not only offer the widest range of decors and colours, we also offer efficient delivery, reliability and great customer experience,” Oghomienor said.

According to her, all the inputs to furniture are imported such as plywood, particleboard, and medium density fibreboard. “Apart from the considerable cost of setting up plants to make these products and Nigeria does not have much wood – we are an almost totally deforested country.”

She urged government to embark on forest regeneration as a way to increase local content in the furniture industry.
