Benue spends N2 billion on rural roads
The Special Adviser to Benue State Governor on Rural Development and Cooperatives, Dr. Adzer Abya, said Governor Samuel Ortom administration has spent over N2 billion on rural projects across the state.
Dr. Abya who made the disclosure after inspecting some of the projects in Gwer and Apa local government areas in the state, said N1.8 billion came from the N10 billion infrastructure facility provided by the federal government while the rest came from the statutory allocations in accordance with budgetary provisions.
He however, lamented the inability of contractors to keep pace with the administration’s determination to deliver on jobs with dispatch and urged them to accelerate their pace of work.
On-going projects inspected include construction on Mase-Paka feeder road with a bridge on Nchila stream at Shanna, Howe-Kinga-Shawa.
