A Grand 10th Remembrance For Stella Obasanjo

IT’s been 10 years since former First Lady, Stella Obasanjo passed on. The fashionable wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo died after undergoing cosmetic surgery in Spain in preparation for her 60th birthday bash. But unfortunately for her, she could not enjoy the celebration before death came calling.

However, while many seem to have forgotten all the memories attached to her, the family has not. Gathered that the family are planning a remembrance party for her, come October 25 to commemorate her death. Stella died on October 25, 2005 . And to celebrate her in death, prayers would be offered for the repose of her soul and this will come with a grand party which takes place in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Olu, her only son and some family members are said to be in charge of the celebration. Eminent Nigerians are expected to register their presence at the event to support ex-President Obasanjo.

Ibukun Awosika’s Supersonic Rise At First Bank

Family, friends and several business associates of Ibukun Awosika have not stopped celebrating her new appointment at the First Bank Nigeria Plc. Her supersonic rise at one of Nigeria’s foremost banks is due to her hard work and never-say-die-spirit over the years. The corporate Amazon was on Monday appointed the chairman of the financial house. She took over from Prince Ajibola Afonja who has just retired from the chairmanship capacity.

Bello Maccido is also leaving his seat to become the pioneer chairman of the newly-licensed FBN Merchant Bank Limited while UK Eke (MFR) replaces him as group Managing Director- designate of FBN Holdings.

Sade Alesh, a popular Lagos socialite-cum-jewellery merchant is presently expecting a grand child from her daughter-in-law, Adejoke, the daughter of Lagos based successful fabric mechant, Alhaja Morufat Kalejaiye. Adejoke last October got married to Azeez Olajuwon Ogedengbe in a classy wedding at two different high brow locations in Lagos.

Adejoke who recently had a baby shower courtesy of her mother-in-law, Sade Alesh will put to bed any moment from now. Sade who owns an upscale jewellery outlet, Prestigious Jewellery Affairs at Civic Centre, Victoria-Island, Lagos is the estranged wife of Lagos socialite and top businessman, Alhaji Rilwane Aleshinloye, owners of famous hotel, Alesh Hotel in Ajah.

In 2006 when I started this NGO, it was not because I expected an award but today, my awards shelf is almost filled with plaques from different parts of the world in different categories. I sincerely thank London Graduate School otherwise known as Commonwealth University. The award is so special to me.”

Olusegun Agagu’s Second Memorial Lecture Holds
The family of Olusegun Agagu, the late former Governor of Ondo State, have perfected plans to hold a resounding second memorial lecture for him in commemoration of his memorial anniversary which holds on Monday, September 14, 2015.

This year’s lecture, according to statement made available to High Society, is entitled: ‘Resources, Policy and Economics’ and will be delivered by the former Prime Minister of Togo, His Excellency, Edem Kodjo. It promises to be an intellectual feast with unforgettable impacts on the society. The lecture will hold on Sunday, September 13, at the prestigious Civic Centre on Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. Close associates, friends and several politicians are expected to grace the lecture.

Teju Philips-Fernandez In A Frenzy
Teju Phillips, the first child and daughter of the late African billionaire, Antonio Oladehinde Fernandez who passed away a few weeks ago in Belgium at 86, is presently in a frenzy following the death of her father. Teju, the former Lagos commissioner has not stopped receiving condolence messages from friends and close associates around the world since the demise of her father.

Although the burial has not been officially announced, close sources confirmed that Teju has swung into action in preparation of the burial which promises to be a grand one. Fernandez made his mark as a businessman early in life from mining. His business interests in oil and gas as well as real estate cut across Nigeria, Angola, France, the United States, United Kingdom and Belgium. He was said to own an island in New York City, a chateau once said to belong to Napoleon Bonaparte in France, and a Grade A listed home in Edinburgh.

The late Fernandez fathered Teju, a close ally of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Ms. Antoinette Oyinkansola Fernandez, from his relationship with Erelu Dosunmu, and Abimbola Fernandez, a Nigerian musician and model for Vivienne Westwood during Edinburgh Fashion Week.

One man who is presently thanking God for attaining 80 in life is Dr. Fredrick Fasheun, a respected Nigerian medical doctor, hotel owner and leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC).
