From all indications, it seems Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, the Ogun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, is well loved and adored by the Ijebu indigenes, following his emergence as their consensus candidate for 2019 governorship from Ogun East.

His victory, it would be recalled, generated a lot of uproar in the media. While many were happy over the development in the life of the former banker, some people’s political, especially governorship ambitions, were threatened by his choice.

Ashiru, according to different version of those who know him, is a man with a desire for developing people around him, and this translated into his appointment as the representative of the Awujale of Ijebuland on the Ogun State Poverty Alleviation Task Force, where he distinguished himself.

Ashiru, a member of The Metropolitan Club, Ikoyi Club 1938, Ijebu Heritage Group and Ijebu Renaissance Group, is a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, and Chartered Institute of Commerce of Nigeria.
