Asaba residents savour Glo Mega Music Show

The Glo Nationwide Mega Music Show organised by Globacom touched down last Saturday in Asaba, the Delta State capital with six iconic musicians treating residents to an unforgettable night of music and fun.

The Glo Nationwide Mega Music Show organised by Globacom touched down last Saturday in Asaba, the Delta State capital with six iconic musicians treating residents to an unforgettable night of music and fun.

The stars that performed included the Fada Fada crooner, Phyno and Olamide Badoo of the Pepper Them fame.Olamide Badoo was just amazing.  He raised the temperature of the event, which compelled the acclaimed Nollywood clown, Victor Osuagwu to come on stage. Osuagwu drew cheers as he complemented Olamide’s tunes with well-choreographed dance steps.

Just as he was wrapping up his performance, a light-skinned dude spotting a lemon green blazer in dark goggles stealthily appeared on stage. The hall was instantly drowned with excitement the moment the crowd realised it was Phyno, even before he rushed out his first line.

Olamide smartly stepped back to allow his musical twin brother have his moment in the sun. The duo first performed their joint songs, ending it with Fada Fada before Olamide yielded the floor to Phyno. Just as they did for Olamide, the crowd stood on their feet almost throughout the time Phyno performed. The celebrities in the hall including Nollywood legend, Richard Mofe-Damijo  (RMD), Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G and Victor Osuagwu could not help themselves as they grooved to Phyno’s artistry.  RMD, a self-confessed fan of Phyno, showed his admiration for the ethno rapper even in his dance steps.

On their part, Africa’s finest entertainment twins, Psquare, sent the crowd into a frenzy and the musical gang was a sight to behold, as they seamlessly blended music and chorography with dance drama, proving that their rating as one of Nigeria’s best musicians for almost two decades is well deserved.

The show, which held at the Event Centre on Okpanam Road, also featured the Itshekiri-born female music sensation, Omawumi; Afro-pop diva Yemi Alade and highlife crooner Flavour. Comperes of the show were Mercy Johnson Okogie and Juliet Ibrahim from Ghana. By all standards, it was definitely an epoch and iconic event.

VIPs that graced the event included the crème de la crème of the state led by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Monday Ovwigho Igbuya; Majority Leader, Delta State House of Assembly, Tim Owhere; Prince Eric Oharisi; Emeka Nwobi; Erijo Johnson and Mrs. Talib Tebite.

Others are the Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Mofe Pira; his Information counterpart, Mr. Patrick Ukah; Chairman, Sapele Local Government Area, Mrs. Eloho Odebala; Controller, CBN, Asaba, Dame Elizabeth Agu and her Canada-based friend, June Chinedu among others.

Globacom’s National Sales Coordinator, Mid West, Mr. Augustus-Ndu Offor, said during his welcome speech, that the concert was a way of appreciating Globacom’s customers for their abiding faith in the network over the years.”

Offor also disclosed that the next stop for the musical show would be Aba, Abia State. He encouraged fun seekers who would like to attend any of the other shows to use up to N2,000 airtime within a month and Text “MUSIC” and their preferred location to a short code 207 such as “MUSIC ABA” to 207.
