From Enugu To Lagos, Groove Goes On For Made Of Black Heroes

IN the last couple of weeks, Guinness has been celebrating the unsung heroes in the society.

These people, who are doing ordinary things in extra ordinary ways, include dancers, singers, drivers, the barmen, mechanics, teachers and all those united by their shared black attitude; the people’s Made Of Black Heroes.

Following several weeks of nomination and voting for the best stories in their cities, it was time for Lagos and Enugu to turn up and celebrate their winning heroes at the Made Of Black Heroes’ party held at Toscana Niteclub in Enugu and Xover lounge in Lagos.

It was an evening of fun and positive energy with family, friends and Guinness lovers celebrating the real people, those who believed in their dreams and dared to follow it. The party was all about the real heroes and they were awarded and treated like stars.

The Lagos heroes, who were nominated are Tayo Faniran, 1st runner up of BBA season 9, Tunde Adebanjo aka Euro, Temitope Okupe, Tony Chukwu, Caleb Oziegbe, Adonu Anthony Reuben, David King-Amin, Josephine Njokwu, Josephine Ukeme, DJ Toxic, Adekunle and Tina Nwosu. Their unique stories are a clear demonstration of the black attitude.

Adekunle stands out as the guy, who wakes up every morning to sweep the Anthony pedestrian bridge, despite his disability and he has done this for the past 12 years, while Josephine Ukeme, a policewoman, has become very popular by her sheer passion and commitment to duty. Josephine tirelessly controls traffic at the St. Agnes Junction in Yaba and through her sheer dedication to duty, she has continually made life easier for road users.

In Enugu, the experience was super exciting as fans gathered to celebrate their chosen made of black heroes, nominees from the coal city includes: Yellow man, a police officer; Engr. Kelvin Igwu, a Lecturer; MC 4 God; Uche; Ifeanyi and Nneka Anieze. Altogether, their stories show resilience and the true definition of black.

To make the events memorable and create the brand’s experience, Olamide and Phyno were on ground to party with the heroes and thrill guests to an experience of a lifetime, in celebration of the chosen Made Of Black heroes. DJ Spinall was in charge of the Lagos party, while Slow Dog turned up the heat in Enugu. The parties also featured scintillating performances from other artistes including Sexy Steel, DJ Toxic and others.

Speaking at the event, Portfolio Marketing Manager, Guinness, Ms. Liz Ashdown, said the Made Of Black campaign celebrates individuals who are made of more, bold and determined in achieving whatever they set their minds to accomplish.

“This is more than an advertising campaign; it is a movement. It’s about the people making bold choices, those who ask ‘why not… those doing things their way and carving a path for themselves.
