Celebration as monarch receives staff of office

Issele-Uku community in Aniocha North Council of Delta State was in celebration mood recently during the presentation of the Staff of Office to the newly crowned traditional ruler of the town, Obi Nduka Ezeagwuna, by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Speaking at the event, Okowa commended the people for ensuring peace since the death of their last monarch in 2014, noting that peace is necessary to enable his administration bring in adequate development to the area.

The governor, while congratulating the new monarch, urged him to rule his people with the fear of God, saying the community have been lucky to have monarchs that listened to the people.

He reminded the young monarch that there would always be challenges and urged him to always listen to his people and consult widely.

In his response, Obi Ezeagwuna thanked the governor, the people and representatives of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, who during his one-week stay in Benin gave him an eye-opening orientation towards assuming office.

He also thanked the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, for finding time to attend and his subjects, including those in the Diaspora, for joining hands to make his coronation a huge success.

On Thursday, January 12, the Oluwa Ni Sola Estate home of the Aare of Lagos, Alhaji Rasak Akanni Okoya, was filled to the brim with guests, ranging from bigwigs to ordinary folks, to celebrate with him as he clocked 77.

There was enough to eat and drink at his Ajah residence and trust the Okoyas, they ensure that the occasion was full of merriments befitting someone of his status.

For his 77th birthday, his daughters, who are as famous in celebrity circles as he is in philanthropic circles, made the occasion a memorable one.
