The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria has officially unveiled names of 10 young Nigerian professionals, who will be receiving this year’s JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons (JCI TOYP) Awards.

This announcement comes seven months after the process began with nominations by members of the public and stages of screening, selection and voting, which narrowed the long nominees list down to 29 from about 160 nominations, and then the final 10.

The list, which has been made public, has talented music producer Cobhams Asuquo (for Cultural Achievement), Affiong Williams (for Business, Economic and Entrepreneurial Accomplishment), Adepeju Jaiyeola (for Medical Innovation) and Akomaye Peters-Benson (for Moral and Environmental Leadership). Others are the Anambra State Commissioners for Economic Planing and Buget Developement, Mark Okoye (for Political, Legal and Government Affairs), Ayodele Daniel Dada (for Academic Leadership and Accomplishment), Imrana Alhaji-Buba (for Contribution to Children, World Peace and Human Rights), Mayowa Kuti-Adegbite (for Humanitarian and Voluntary Leadership), Oluyomi Ojo (for Scientific and Technological Development) and Ukinebo Dare (for Personal Achievement and Accomplishments).

For 34 years, JCI, an organisation present in over 100 countries, has used the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons (JCI TOYP) Awards as a platform to identify, recognise and celebrate young professionals under the age of 40, who are doing outstanding work in their various communities and fields of endeavour, while also inspiring others to be young active citizens.

This year’s event holds on Saturday, August 26, where the 2017 award recipients will be celebrated at a lavish ceremony in Lagos. This award night will also double as an anniversary gala to mark the 60th year of JCI’s presence in Nigeria.

JCI is a nonprofit organisation of young active citizens age 18 to 40, who are engaged and committed to creating impact in their communities. Active citizens are individuals invested in the future of our world. JCI gathers active citizens from all sectors of society.
