Last Saturday, August 18, it was colourful, celebration galore, excitement and panache at the investiture ceremony of Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, Arts and Social Sciences, University of Ibadan, David Olugbade Fakeye, as the 13th president of Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) of Ibadan.

Fakeye, in his opening address, called for the support of all towards steering the ship of the great association, being a service to God, as YMCA remained the only organisation in history that has survived two world wars.

He added that every member of the association was expected to focus on certain challenges, which are an evolution of the Kampala Principles- such as sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and striving for spiritual, intellectual and physical wellbeing of individuals and wholesomeness of communities.

“Let us not fear, for God is with us. We should not be dismayed, for He is our God, He will strengthen and help us, He will uphold us with His righteous right Hand,” the president charged the team.

Among other elected officers in the team are Samson Akinoso, O. Ogungbemi, Charles A. Shatusin, Femi Obisesan, Olubankole Aduloju, Dare Ishola, Akin Olatunbosun, D.E. Ladipo, Femi Lahan, Bayo Oyedeji, Wilson Oguniyi and Benjamin Adebowale.
