Erelu OjuolapeTHEY were married at very younger ages of 25 and 22 respectively. They are now in their early 80s and 70s. Their marriage was the talk of the town based on their aristocratic background.

In a country where marriages of celebrities are packing up like badly arranged cards, theirs is still waxing stronger everyday and they are happy to tell their story of close to 60 years in marriage.

Society Matriarch, Erelu Ojuolape Ojora while speaking recently, recounted the success of her marriage. She enthused: “We have been married for close to 60 years.

We got married at very young ages and this is because we love each other dearly. We have our ups and downs but we sort things out before they get out of hand. The secret that has help our marriage is that we both give more than we take. “Young couples of today should know that just as life is full of ups and downs, so also is marriage.

There are bound to be issues but each party should not go to bed with grudges on their minds that are making them unhappy. The grudges would have flown away when you settle differences at night before going to bed. Starting afresh and also fixing things right helps a lot.

Another thing is being peaceful within yourself, respect your in-laws and respect each other. If you do that, you can never go wrong” On why her husband has refused to marry a second wife, she said: “He surely looks at other women.

The point is that he never considers another woman as his wife; there is nothing he is looking for in another woman that I don’t have”. She however listed some of Otunba’s favourite things which include colours light blue, white, grey. “I pick all his clothes for him as a wife. He likes eba, fresh fish and crabs”.
