Princess-Adenrele-10-10-15-CopyMany who witnessed the classic turbaning of Princess Adenrele Adeniran Ogunsanya, former Secretary to the Lagos State Government as a chief with the honor of ‘Omowonuade’ title in Owu Kingdom in Abeokuta last week Friday by the Paramount ruler of the Kingdom, Oba of Owu, Kabiyesi (Dr) Olusanya Adegboyega Dosunmu (Amororo II) will agree it was a well deserved honor considering the outpouring of encomiums showered on the Ikorodu-born Princess.

The event which attracted business and political bigwigs in the social circles, was held inside the palatial palace of the monarch in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital as part of activities to mark this year’s Owu Day Festival.

Oba Dosunmu while speaking at the ceremony said it’s a special chieftaincy title bestowed on Princess Adenrele following her several contributions to nation building. He said she would cease to be called Adenrele but rather bear ‘Omowonuade’. According to Kabiyesi: “Many do not know she’s also our daughter here. I have been all over her to accept the title for long but she has been reluctant.

I thank God she accepted it today. Everybody will agree with me it’s purely on merit”. Princess Adenrele who was full of praises for the honor and the entire Owu Kingdom at large, said: “It has been a well deserved home coming for me. My great, great, great, grandmother was married to them in Owu so I am at home here.

The title is given to me to keep projecting the socio-cultural heritage of the kingdom and that of Yoruba at large”, she enthused.
