Home styling: The art of wall décor

I bet many of us didn’t know there are several things you can do with a wall space other than just painting it to make it look inviting and beautiful.

The good news is that there are dozens of things you can do to a wall to enhance the overall ambience of your home or office that doesn’t involve breaking the bank. Apart from wall clocks, mirrors and wallpapers, have you ever considered wall art?

Just as the name implies, it simply means putting art on your wall to beautify it. Art comes in different forms: it could either be a painting or a decorative piece made of either wood, metal, stone, glass or canvas.

So, if you are considering adding wall arts, there are a few things to consider. First, decide on a colour. If for instance, you decide to go with blue, there are many variations of blue- from cobalt to sky to turquoise to baby and they are not all the same thing. After this, consider the theme you want to go with.

For variety, it is nice to mix shapes on a wall. For example, a round mirror will go well with rectangular prints, so that the décor doesn’t look too similar. However, if the textures and colours of the frames are different, you can still achieve a unique and varied look.

Hanging is also an important factor. Just as you intended to mix shapes, so they do not clash, you should consider where you place it so that it doesn’t clash with previous ones or new ones you intend putting up so as to create a balanced look on the wall.

Your new wall art, combined with varied accessories in the room would definitely create a lot of visual interest in a space. Mixing metallics alongside textures and canvas with other organic elements are a winner any day.
