Colleagues and close friends of the veteran broadcaster and actor, Sadiq Daba, are rallying round to raise N20million required to fly him abroad for urgent medical attention.

The former staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and star of Kunle Afolayan’s October 1 has been off the radar for sometime now. The actor, who was a constant visitor to homes playing Bitrus in the defunct television drama series, Cock Crow at Dawn, on NTA, revealled in a terse message circulating on social media that he is down with leukemia and prostrate cancer.

According to foremost entertainment journalist and show promoter, Azuka Jebose, the actor would require about N20million to stay alive.

Daba had authorised the following message to be shared roundly: “Please, continue to appeal to Nigerians to help me fight and win leukemia and prostrate cancer.

“I am in this to survive. Please, I need help to get the best medical treatments available. I am hopeful in compassionate Nigerians and confident that they will help me beat these illnesses with their support to help me get well.

“Fellow Nigerians, I need your help now. I am in the urgency of the moment. May Almighty God continue to bless you all and mercy upon us.”

Jebose disclosed that a special go-fund-me account has been opened to solicit funds for the bed-ridden actor and gave the fund address as http://www.gofundme.com/sadiq-daba-cancer-fund.

He also revealled that help for Daba can be sent directly to the actor’s United Bank for Africa (UBA) current account No. 1005382276.

“We are hopeful and confident that Nigerians will rise up to the occasion and save the life of this great icon and living legend,” Jebose said.
