It Was Kunle Afolayan’s Day At AMVCA 2015
NOTABLE Nollywood producer, director and actor Kunle Afolayan emerged the biggest winner at the 2015 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award, which held last Saturday at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos. His Jubilee hit October 1 got nine awards out of 12 nominations. It was as though other filmmakers who were in nomination just escorted Afolayan to the venue as he made it upstage severally to receive the awards which his award winning psychological thriller, October 1 earned him and other members of his production team. October 1 was adjudged best in Directing, Art Direction, Make-up, Script, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Best Sound Editing, Best Actress in a leading role and the Best Movie of last year. An elated Afolayan thanked AMVCA for the recognition. He dedicated his winning to Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola; Chairman of Elizade Group, Chief Ade Ojo; Mrs. Bolanle Austeen Peters; the committed members of his cast and crew; some partners who believed in the dream; Peace Osigwe, who through her AMAA facilitated the first international exposure he got as a filmmaker; the Nigerian media; and the team at ProjectAct Nollywood.
