Omodara needs N7.5 Million to undergo kidney transplant

Thirty-year-old Adetola Igbekele Omodara is having a kidney disease and needs N7.5 million for a kidney transplant in New Delhi, India. He is calling on well-meaning Nigerians to help him raise the money to prevent his untimely death.

Omodara, who was feeling very weak and unstable when speaking with The Guardian on his hospital bed, recalled that he finished his Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Computer Science at Ibadan Polytechnic in 2010 before undergoing a six-month certificate course in ticketing reservation at School of Aviation in Egbeda, Lagos.

He later went to Dubai in February 2016 with the assistance of his cousin, Wole Omodara. He was working in a printing press in Dubai before he took ill.
“There was a day I found it difficult to breath. I went to the chemist and they said it was an infection. After two weeks and there was no difference, I called my dad and he said that I should go to the hospital. That was in April. It was at a Dubai Hospital that I was told that I have a kidney problem,” he said.

Omodara said he later called his dad, who advised him to return to Nigeria. Currently, he is admitted at General Hospital Gbagada where he is receiving treatment while sourcing for funds to do a kidney transplant.

Medical report shows that both of his kidneys show increased parenchymal echoes with preserved CMD. No hydronophrosis on both sides. Urinary bladder is partially distended.

His father, Mr John Omodara, who hails from Ilesha, Osun State, a driver, lamented that Omodara’s ill health had taken a toll on his finances. “We have been on dialysis since he came back from Dubai in April. We are spending N130,000 every week on dialysis. We sometimes do the dialysis at Gbagada General Hospital or Clini Healthcare, Anthony or JKF Dialysis Centre Limited, Palm Groove Estate. The doctors are now asking us to go for a kidney transplant which would cost N7.5 million at Apollo Hospital India,” he disclosed.
