Another convenient service the resort provides is complimentary airport pickup and drop-off. This added benefit for guests ensures you don’t have to spend time finding the resort, which is off the beaten track to maintain its exclusivity.

Lansdown Resort on the hills of Aburi is less than an hour from Accra, Ghana. Famed for its serenity and exclusivity, the resort sits at an elevation of 1,500 feet above sea level, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but with facilities to keep guests relaxed while still connected.

According to head of sales, marketing and business development, Queen Yurglee-Kpodo, “the major thing that makes Lansdown Aburi stand out is that it is totally exclusive. When you are here, you are away from the world. You are totally relaxed here. Everything we create is tuned to making sure you are not disturbed.”

The beauty of the restort is the landscaping, the huge vast land carved out of the mountain and turned into an exquisite place for relaxation, without having to touch the natural green vegetation around it, which makes it one-of-a-kind in West Africa.

For visitors looking for a classy retreat, Lansdown provides the perfect environment. There are eight villas, each with three bedrooms, a living area, Jacuzzi and patio. They’re well appointed and tastefully decorated. There are single rooms too, and a mansion for top executives.

Discerning guests at the facility include corporate organisations, couples seeking a romantic getaway and nature lovers. The resort is also ideally suited to destination weddings and exclusive private parties.

The property has a conference hall seating between 25 and 60 depending on the configuration. Corporate groups are one of the main income streams at the Lansdown and the conference room has modern, state-of-the-art conferencing facilities, which include video conferencing with the option of communicating via the big screen or through multiple individual devices. Free Wi-Fi is also available, while solar power backup ensures there is uninterrupted electricity.

“We do conferencing, retreats, private parties and destination weddings. We do a lot of things and it depends on who the client is. We can always tailor something to meet client’s need,” said Yurglee-Kpodo.

Other amenities bound to delight guests include a stunning infinity pool overlooking the valley, a lawn tennis court, table tennis board, hiking trail and a variety of board games. The clubhouse and restaurant above the pool are lovely spots to watch the clouds roll out in the morning or listen to the sounds of the bush in the evening.

The resort prides itself on the quality and variety of food. The internationally trained chefs serve traditional Ghanaian food, Nigerian dishes and cuisine from other West African countries. The menu also includes French, Italian, Chinese, Lebanese and American dishes. The food is always made from scratch, tailored to individual tastes.

The resort is developing, with a golf course nearing completion and a hilltop conference venue under construction. It would be accessible by cable car, affording guests a generous view of the scenic landscape.

For guests who desire extra activities, the resort organises city tours. “We organise tours for our guests. We present it to them, but most times people who drive all the way out here don’t want to go anywhere.

“Most of the activities would mostly be headed towards Accra because Aburi is a very serene place; there are not too many things going on. Knowing that, what we also try to do is to come up with activities on ground so that guests don’t have a need to go out.

“We try to create a lot of activities tailored to the clients we have on ground. If it is a corporate client, we speak to them and know what their expectations are and we build something for them. If it is a holiday where a lot of families will come up, then we put up things for the kids to be able enjoy themselves, fun games for parents, challenges between families. This keeps them engaged and by the time the day is over they are really, really tired and all they want to do is sleep,” she said.

Continuing Yurglee-Kpodo disclosed: “The distinct thing about us is that as much as we have a range of things we do, we like to make sure that it is well tailored to the kind of people we have on ground just so we make sure that we are satisfying the needs of the people and not just shoving what we have in their faces.”

Another convenient service the resort provides is complimentary airport pickup and drop-off. This added benefit for guests ensures you don’t have to spend time finding the resort, which is off the beaten track to maintain its exclusivity.
