It was indeed a good home coming for the Special Assistant to Kogi State Government on Entertainment and anchor of the Glo Laffta Fest, the comedy show of the telecom giant, Globacom, when last Sunday the city gave a heroine welcome to their illustrious daughter, Mercy Johnson Okojie at the Lokoja edition of the show held at the Indoor Sports Hall of Confluence Stadium in the state capital.

The Nollywood diva, who also co-anchored the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour penultimate week at the same venue was the cynosure of all eyes as the audience celebrated her with standing ovation when she was introduced.

The show will for a long time remain the talk of the town in the city and the adjoining environs as the continent’s top-rated comedians stormed the city to entertain brand’s subscribers, both new and old, who were pre-selected to be part of the fun.

Among stars that performed at the all-stars-inclusive show were Basketmouth, Salvador from Uganda, Bovi Ugboma, Godwin Komone (Gordons), Dan D’Humorous, Bethel Njoku, popularly called Senator and Bash.

The stadium was beehive with human movements as the entire environment was swarm with fun-lovers, including top government officials, senior public servants, military top bras and businessmen and women, who trooped out in their number to be part of the evening of funtainment.

Bash opened the show; he regaled the appreciative audience with hilarious tales of his formative years. Senator, who also gave a sterling performance, followed him. Next was Uganda’s most celebrated comedian, Salvador, who received an initial tepid reaction from the crowd, obviously because most of the audience did not exactly know him.

However, the moment he began to perform, the audience warmed up to him and appreciated his jokes with wild applause. He left in a loud ovation, yielding the stage to Dan D’Humorous, who took the audience to another refreshing level of entertainment.

The big guns, Bovi, Gordons and Basketmouth wrapped up the evening of fun that also witnessed the attendance some notable artistes, like Kannywood’s star, Sani Danja and Nollywood legend, Kanayo O. Kanayo. Ebube Nwagbo and Mercy Johnson gave very good accounts of themselves as show anchors.

Port Harcourt as the next port of call would be hosting Laffta Fest next for the second time. The train will move commercial city of Onitsha, in Anambra before heading to Makurdi the Benue State capital, and Ajah in Lagos in the weeks ahead.

To attend the show, Glo subscribers are required to use up to N2,000 air time (credit) within one month and text LOL with their preferred location to the short code 240. For example, “LOL Port Harcourt” to 240. Those who do not meet this criterion can gain admission by purchasing a Glo SIM, register it and recharge with N2000 credit before the show.
