The all night gig, which will kick off at about 9pm, will see the band entertain guests and Afrobeat enthusiasts with their old hits, as well as songs from Seun’s forthcoming album.

Seun Kuti will, today, perform in a special concert at the New African Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos.

After a successful international music tour that saw the Egypt 80 Band play at festivals and concerts in Europe, particularly in countries such as France, Belgium, London and Switzerland, Seun Kuti will, today, perform in a special concert at the New African Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos.

The all night gig, which will kick off at about 9pm, will see the band entertain guests and Afrobeat enthusiasts with their old hits, as well as songs from Seun’s forthcoming album.

In fact, the tour was an opportunity for the band to finish work on the new album, which will be released soon. According to Seun’s manager Oloye, today’s gig is in line with Seun’s resolve to keep in touch with his fans at home.

“The truth is that the band is always on tour; they just returned from Europe where they played at different festival and also hosted private converts. However, it has become necessary to always find time to play the monthly gig at home,” he said.

Though Seun, as an artiste, has carved out a niche for himself in the Afrobeat genre, with hit songs that have made it to international platforms, lovers of vintage Fela’s songs are in for an exciting moment, as the band is surely going to deliver some of Fela’s works.
