Winners have emerged in the fifth edition of the yearly face of Candy City pageant.

At the event, which held last weekend at Astoria Event Center, Lekki, Lagos, 22-year old Wendy Efele beat 29 other contenders to emerge winner of this year’s edition of the contest.

For coming top, Efele, an undergraduate in Ghana, got an official car, a trip to Dubai, including hair and skin cosmetic products. Meanwhile, other winners in the contest include Ifeoluwa Grace (Face of CandyCity Universe); Joy Nguma (Face of Candy City Africa); Jane Okojie (Face of Candy City Nigeria); Chioma Iwuchukwu (Face of Candy City Tourism) and Xenia Chukumah (Face of Candy City Personality). Others are Photogenic, which was won by Sandra Bernard; Charismatic won by Odili Stella; Outstanding won by Esther Tumi; Top Model won by Ruth Ayabina, while Amity was awarded to Irabor Adesua.

“I am very happy to have won, even when I wasn’t so sure about winning.

I feel great being the winner of Face of Candy City even when this is my first attempt.

This pageant is one of the most decent pageants I have participated in as most of them are tied around negativities. I am glad to be associated with a pageantry such as this and I hope that people begin to change the way they think about competitions like this,” excited Efele said.

While expressing satisfaction over the success of the competition, the CEO of Candy City Entertainment, Ofoma Divine said thought the journey so far has been tough, it is worth it all.

“I feel very good knowing that against all odds, it was a success.

At first, I got a call that my mum was rushed to the hospital, that alone broke me down and a text message saying that one of our contestants was kidnapped in Benin but then I am grateful to God for his mercies; everything went smooth afterwards and we are able to accomplish our goal.”
