Esther Chiamaka Chukwujekwu Emerged Miss Kanekalon 2015

THE panel of honorable judges comprising ace designer Frank Osodi, Patience Abla Nogbemalo, a Cosmetologist from Ghana, Bayo Adegbe of Modela and On-Air personality Kayla Oniwo, had a challenging time selecting the winner among the bevy of beauties that jostled for the coveted Miss Kanekalon crown last Saturday at the grand finale of Miss Kanekalon 2015.

After a rigorous screening and regional competitions, 20 delectable young ladies made it to the finals of the competition in Lagos. The event which took place at the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island last Saturday, saw the contestants strutting the runway to display their innovative braid styles made with Kanekalon products.
Parading in different segments of casual, swimwear and evening gowns, the show was spiced with stage performances of music by Seyi Shay and Olamide while ace comedian Kofi supplied guests with his large dose of comedy.

As expected, the contestants were put through an interview sessions to prove that they can match their beauty with their brains, and after putting the audience in suspense for some time, to the delight of many, judges finally declared Miss Esther Chiamaka Chukwujekwu winner of the much-coveted crown.

She was crowned alongside the first runner-up, Abisola Salawu and second runner up, Elma Mbadiwe.

Miss Kanekalon 2015 went home with a whopping N2 million and a brand new Toyota Corolla 2015 model. The first runner-up smiled home with a N1.5 million cheque while the second runner-up took away N1 million.

According to the organizers, the annual pageant is a unique one, as it is a way of celebrating Nigeria’s “braid” culture and style.

With her crowning as Miss Kanekalon 2015, Esther becomes a brand ambassador for the hair extension company for the next 12 months.

Kanekalon is a Japanese quality hair Fibre used for all X-pression brands (Ultra braids, Rich braids, Wonder braids, Sunny braids), Darling brands (Super-star, Attraction braids, Hygienic braids) and Nina X-citing braids.

Celebrities such as Matse, Mercy Aigbe-Gentry, Toke Makinwa, Moet Abebe graced the bright occasion that took place in an opulent setting.
