‘We enjoy glorifying God through music’
Popularly known by their stage name as the Two Voices, Funmilayo and Tosin Odujinrin (6 and 13 years) are upcoming gospel artistes, who started their musical career in 2010 and later released their first album, Everlasting praise in 2011. In this interview with ENIOLA DANIEL, spoke on their music career and future plans.
When did you start your music career?
We started in 2010 and since then, we have recorded successes and commendations from people, which we are pleased with. We had our first album in 2011 tilled Everlasting Praise and it has 7 tracks and two remixes. We decided to do music because we have passion for it. We always like to sing along whenever our mother is playing music and we enjoy it.
Who are your role models?
Don Moen, Benita Okojie; I love Benita because she started little and she’s still in the limelight after years in the industry. She’s a motivation to us.
What’s your source of motivation?
Listening to artistes is one of our major sources of inspiration; we listen, paying more attention to interesting songs from there we form ours. We also get inspiration when we are alone.
What have you been doing after your first album?
We attend shows, but we are taking a break from music until after Funmi’s WAEC, but we still write songs though. Our mother wanted us to produce the video, but we told her we do not want something that will distract us from our studies. At the moment, we engage in crafts, which we also developed as passion. We also enjoy reading and cooking.
How supportive are your parents?
We enjoy our parents’ support; they are our number one fans, inspiration and mentor. They support and counsel us as well.
Have you started earning money through your performances?
We do not look at what to gain from what we are doing for now; we still want to continue to do what we love to do before thinking about money. We enjoy glorifying God through music and we will continue to do that.
What’s your message for Nigerian children?
They should not leave the presence of God because whenever we need Him, He’s always there.
