Stretching his meteoric run with the neo-Apala fusion is Balogun Oluwoseyi, the 22-year-old maverick professionally known as Seyi Vibes.

Since his 2019 breakout dubbed God Sent, the street-Hop artiste has continued to push boundaries with his fusion of Hip Hop and Apala music, displaying artistic ingenuity with every release.

Now, in his latest duet with his counterpart Zlatan dubbed, Let There Be Light, the young musician stretches his feat with another noteworthy record that spotlights indigenous African music across a heavily-dominated pop community in Nigeria.

On the record, Seyi tows familiar lines of melding witty Yoruba innuendo and street lingo with his chant-heavy flows, while Zlatan gives the record the gritty, raspy, tension-rife mood that trademarks his raps.

“Billion Dollar Baby/Omo dudu bi koro isin/Wofe la mi e gba mi/,” part of Seyi’s lyricism reads, showcasing his anti-institutional and endless satire of poverty and other socio-political realities for the average common person in Nigeria.

Seyi Vibez started pursuing his passion in singing, by making covers to his favourite African songs at the time, before he abandoned a corporate career for a life behind the microphone. His progression within the music scene as a lyrical juggernaut and a skilled vocalist continue to spotlight him among the few leading singers holding it down for indigenous-language pop music in Nigeria.
