President of the Muaythai Federation of Nigeria, Comrade Paul Egonu has described the country’s performance at the just-concluded African Wrestling Championships in Port Harcourt as a sign of what would happen at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Arguing that the excellent outing would spur the wrestlers to more successes at the Games, Comrade Egonu joined Nigerians in celebrating the spectacular performance of the team, which emerged the overall champion in the tournament.
 
Having keenly followed the team’s performance throughout the tournament, he commended their hard work, dedication, discipline and indomitable spirit, saying they are truly worthy of emulation.

Egonu, however, urged the athletes and their coaching crew to remain focused and determined for more success in the future, while thanking Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his unflinching support, goodwill to sports in Nigeria. 

He also urged the governor to extend the same support to Muaythai and other martial art sports in the country.
