Angola is not pushover, Nwosu tells CHAN Eagles

Former Super Eagles player, Henry Nwosu, has called on the CHAN Eagles to approach their quarterfinal game against Angola at the ongoing Africa Nations championship in Morocco with total commitment.

Nwosu who is delighted with the way the Eagles rounded up Equatorial Guinea in their last group games, which ended 3-1, noted that the philosophy of contending with every team based on their strength in every game should be replicated against Angola.

He declared that the championship, which is in its quarterfinal stage, was still open for any country to win.

The former U-17 coach also charged the CHAN Eagles not to allow the euphoria that they are yet to loss a match in the Africa championship gets into their head, as they would be contending with the best teams in the tournament from the quarterfinal stage.

He, however, urged the players not to rest on their oars, saying that excelling in the championship would assist raise the standard of the Nigeria league to the rest of the World.

“Eagles need to battle Angola with the same spirit they used against their group opponents. They should work hard to book the semi-final ticket before thinking of playing in the final. With the progress of the team in every game, I think they would be more tactically disciplined against Angola. They should understand that from the quarterfinal stage of every championship, the competition becomes tougher and aggressive. CHAN Eagles should guide against compliancy, not losing a game at the group stage should not get in to their heads. The coaches should also work more on the striking force of the team,” he said.
