FORMER Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Kashimawo Laloko, says there was nothing wrong in FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, contesting for re-election for another four-year term in office because nothing has been proved against him.

Blatter was on Friday re-elected for another four-year term for the office after defeating Jordan’s Prince Ali bin al-Hussien, which he has occupied since 1998.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Instructor, said, “If a man says he wants to continue as FIFA president, why should anyone attack him. Was he the one who collected the bribe? Those who took the money are now under surveillance and they are going to be prosecuted. Let’s be fair, who do you want to be the FIFA president now? Is it somebody that has not prepared for the position?

“Who, is it (Franz) Beckenbauer? The point is that I am sure the man is running his last term and by the time he finishes something would have fallen in place. I believe the man knows what he is doing.”

To buttress his point that experience counts in such offices, the Director of Pepsi Football Academy points to Joao Javelange, who spent 24 years, and was the the second longest in FIFA’s history, behind only that of Jules Rimet,

According to him, “We just have to be careful about what we are doing. In spite of all, has he not been re-elected? If all the congress leaders from all over the world want the man re-elected, why should some people say he should resign a day to the election. No. I don’t think it is done that way. Don’t let us get ourselves involved in the politics of the organisation.

“FIFA is FIFA, and they are the ones who have been running the place for a very long time ago. Though one needs to know the history of FIFA. Who are those who elected him? Switzerland was one of them, Denmark, Netherland, England was not even there; they refused to go. Spain was even represented by Real Madrid.
