Tornadoes’ Bala promises better result next game
Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club (MFM FC) Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, is not satisfied with the quality of his team despite their 3-0 defeat of Niger Tornadoes of Minna at the Agege Stadium on Sunday.

First half goals by Olatunbosun Sikiru, Odey Stephen and Adekunle Adegboyega gave the Olukoya Boys the three points of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game.

Ilechukwu, who attributed his team’s poor show in the second half of the encounter to the three goals scored by his boys in the first half, added that the team went to sleep thinking they had achieved the result they needed.

“I thank God for the victory. I think the reason we performed below average in the second half was because we were three goals up. I believe the boys decided to relaxed a bit after the wide margin in the first half.

“Our display in the second half is not good for the team because if we played like that against a great team we would be punished for it. I also noticed some loopholes in our midfield particularly, which we are going to work on if we were really going to compete in the top flight of the league this season,” Ilechukwu said.

On his part, Tornadoes head coach, Abubakar Bala, said the three quick goals demoralised his boys and made their hope of a comeback difficult.

“It was in the first half that we gave away the match to MFM by allowing them to control the match. Before they scored their goals, we had our own chances too, but we failed to convert them. And when you lose such chances, you get punished for it, which was what happened to us.”

“At times, you prepare for something and you get another thing. The most important thing is that we have been able to identify our weak areas, which we need to work on before our next home game,” he said.

MFM travels to Nnewi to face FC IfeanyiUbah tomorrow in Match day two, while Tornadoes will host ABS FC.
