Cowries RFC of Lagos inside the main bowl of the National Stadium at the weekend defeated Gosar RFC to retain the Lagos Rugby League title.

The game saw the defending champions, Cowries RFC and Gosar RFC in a slugfest in the early minutes of the encounter, but tries from Cowries RFC Captain Onoru Jatto, Christian Ogar and Henry Ani ensured the champions beat Gosar 42-0 to retain the title.

Gosar, who did not earn enough points to remain in the top flight after the final round of matches, were relegated to the division two.

Earlier in the first match of the day, Kings College defeated Lagos Rugby Club 5-3 to finish in third place behind their opponents, while Eco II won Division Two to gain promotion to Division One.

Cowries will face the South South/South East League champions to determine the Southern representatives in the Super Cup later in November.

In the Northern zone of the league, Plateau Rugby Club beat Nasarawa 35-22 in Jos to clinch the North Central League title.

They will now meet the North West champions to determine the Northern representative in the Super Cup.
