Former Super Eagles Coach, Christian Chukwu, has advised football loving Nigerians against judging the ability of the team’s new foreign manager, Gernot Rohr, with the 2017 African Nations qualifier against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania.

The match is slated for Uyo, Akwa Ibom State this weekend, but Chukwu posits that the German tactician needs enough time to get acquitted with the players.Speaking to The Guardian yesterday, Chukwu, who is a member of the NFF Technical Committee, said the body is ready to give the Eagles technical crew the needed advice to raise a quality national team, adding that the match against Tanzania would help the coaches to select the players needed for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

He also believes it would give Rohr the right frame of mind to build his team, stressing that despite the fact that Nigeria is no longer in contention for a place at the Gabon 2017 African Nations Cup, the encounter is still important for the senior national team.

“The Technical Committee decided not to be involved in players’ selection to allow the coach choose the best players he thinks can deliver for him. All we need now is to give the coach the full support. Rating the coach’s ability with the game against Tanzania would not help the progress of the Super Eagles,’’ he said.Rohr had his first full game with the Eagles Wednesday evening when the team had a practice game against Akwa United.
