Enyimba to drag Etoile to CAF over stadium attack
• LMC hails team, challenges new Eagles’ Coaches
Following the intimidation and attack on officials of the Nigeria champions, Enyimba FC in Sousse on Wednesday after edging out Etoile du Sahel on penalties in the CAF Champions League second round qualifier, the club said yesterday it would ‘file a formal letter of complaint to the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).’
The club’s Head of Media, Allaputa Farriel tweeted: “Enyimba will file a formal letter of complaint to CAF today over the actions of Etoile du Sahel in yesterday’s game.”
“According to club boss Anyansi: We will not let our victory overshadow the brutality of Etoile du Sahel. They must pay for what they did.
“The threat of violence was so high that all Enyimba officials were on the bench during the game, the only safe place they could hide.”
Meanwhile, the League Management Company (LMC) has congratulated Enyimba for defeating Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia and qualifying for the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
LMC also congratulated the recently named caretaker coaches of the Super Eagles, who were named to handle two upcoming international friendly matches of the senior national team.
The coaches are Salisu Yusuf, formerly of Wikki Tourists, Imama Amakapabor of Enugu Rangers and Kennedy Boboye of Abia Warriors, who have been listed among the Super Eagles managers for the upcoming international friendly matches against Mali and Luxembourg.
The Tunisians had cancelled out Enyimba’s 3-0 lead from Nigeria in regulation time and led 2-0 at the start of the penalty shoot-out.
