Fashola, Okocha, Kanu for CAN sports award

Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Austin Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo and other stars would be playing an international novelty match in the maiden edition of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) sports award.

Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Austin Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo and other stars would be playing an international novelty match in the maiden edition of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) sports award.

The match holds at the Eagle Club, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, Lagos on April 29, by 3pm.

The epoch event, which is in collaboration of X-Plore Integrated Services Limited under the watch of Louis Nwadialo, the Managing Director of the organisation and CAN, Surulere chapter, with Ignatius Ukatu as the coordinator, would be used to honour Nigeria achievers in sports.

Other stars expected at the event are former Super Eagles, Taribo West, Friday Ekpo, Peter Rufai, Tajudeen Disu and Henry Nwosu. The All-Stars International Veterans Football Club will be led by the President, Anosike while Hon. Sheriff O. Balogun, the Administrator of Surulere Local Council will be the chief host of the award.

Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, Lagos State CAN chairman, will chair the event. The Spiritual Father of the Day is Bernard Okoduah, the Parish Priest of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Gbaja, Surulere, Lagos.

Among the awardees is former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Vice President, Chief Mike Umeh (Ozodinobi 1 of Amichi), MD Central Bag Nigeria Ltd, former Team Manager of the Super Eagles and later National Sports Administrator will be honoured with the CAN Sports City Soccer Lifetime Achievement Award. Renowned soccer aficionado, Godwin Dudu Orumen, CEO Multi Sports Ltd and Sports Shaq will bag the CAN Sportscity Sports Business Award. Mrs. Philomena Imoaghene, Area Manager, Standard Chartered Bank, Head Office, Victoria Island, Lagos will be decorated with the CAN Sportscity Outstanding Charity Award.

Fashola will bag CAN Sportscity Pillar of Sports Award and ace journalist and poet, Uzor Maxim Uzoatu, will be decorated with CAN Sportscity Soccer Media Award. While Desmond Olusola Elliot, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly will be honoured with the CAN Sportscity Youth Ambassador Award.
