Aspiring footballers, who want to learn the game the FC Barcelona way have been thronging the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, to join the team’s academy.The registration, which ends today, according to officials of the FCB Escola International School, will give selected children from ages six to 18 the opportunity to learn from coaches sent by the Spanish side to handle the youth camp.

“With professional nurturing from the FC Barcelona coaches using the FC Barcelona Soccer Methodology, the students will be taught the club’s values to enable them succeed in their professional soccer career at international levels.

“Each school session will last for 10 months and will focus on developing the skills of the footballers such that after graduation, they can pursue careers as professional footballers with international football clubs,” the organisers said in a statement.

It added that FC Barcelona would monitor the players such that any potential star will be relocated to the FCBESCOLA Barcelona, also known as La Masia.FC Barcelona in recent years has been home to such renowned stars as Luis Figo, Samuel Eto’o, Ronaldinho, Xavi, Pep Guardiola, Gerard Pique and Lionel Messi, among others.
