The championship, tagged Africa Zone Three 3×3 Tour, will feature eight countries, including Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Niger, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Liberia, who will battle to ascertain the best team in the zone.

According to the organizers of the championship, over 240 players, coaches, as well as 50 officials drawn from across Africa will participate in the maiden basketball fiesta.

The championship, which, according to FIBA, is a developmental championship to raise basketball awareness in Africa, will also afford the executive board of the zone to deliberate, review its scorecard and plan ahead for the success of the sport.

Other side attractions at the event are a three-point shootout, slam dunk and musical entertainment.

A member of the organizing committee, Col. Sam Ahmedu, who is also the FIBA Zone Three president, said the board would do everything within its power to redeem basketball in Africa.

“FIBA Africa Zone Three is organizing the 3×3 championship to encourage the growth of the game in Africa. The event promises to be exciting, as Nigerians and international players from across the globe would be attending the event. The public and media will also have opportunities to win prizes at the event,” he said.
