SOME fans of football applauded the Nigeria U-20 squad for doing the nation proud in their 3-1 victory over Senegal U-20 team in the ongoing 2015 Africa Youth Cup in Senegal.

A spectacular performance by the Coach Manu Garba-led team saw Nigeria’s Flying Eagles begin the quest for qualifying for the world cup in New Zealand on a good note.

A first half double from the lanky Nigeria’s Taiwo Awoniyi followed by another goal by Ifeanyi Mathew in the same half ensured the Flying Eagles began their 2015 African Youth Championship campaign on a bright note.

A resolute Senegal did all they could to draw home support but could only score a goal through Sidy Sarr.

With this win, Garba’s team sits atop Group A with three points plus two goals difference and will face Congo On Wednesday at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor.
