I won’t need a rematch after beating Joshua brutally, boasts Wilder

Deontay Wilder didn’t feel like he needed a rematch with Bermane Stiverne, but at least it afforded him a chance to knock out the only opponent that had gone the distance with him, reports www.boxingscene.com.

The unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion took full advantage of that opportunity Saturday night, when he destroyed Stiverne in their second fight. Wilder (39-0, 38 KOs) dropped Stiverne (25-3-1, 21 KOs), a former WBC champion and the mandatory challenger for his title, three times on his way to a first-round knockout at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

When Wilder gets his shot at Anthony Joshua, the extremely confident knockout artist promised there won’t be any need for a second bout between the hard-hitting heavyweight champions.

When I beat him, I’m not looking for the second time around because it’s gonna be so bad and so brutal that the first time is gonna be enough,” Wilder said early Sunday morning during the post-fight press conference. “It’s gonna be like ‘No mas!’ ”

First, of course, Wilder needs to entice Joshua into agreeing to fight him in the most meaningful heavyweight fight that can be made in 2018.The 28-year-old Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) is expected to first make a mandatory defense of his WBA title against an undetermined opponent. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, also has said Joshua could pursue a partial title unification fight against New Zealand’s Joseph Parker (24-0, 18 KOs), the WBO champion, before considering a showdown with Wilder, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The 32-year-old Wilder hopes his demolition of Stiverne, who’s 39 and was a huge underdog, doesn’t make Joshua reluctant to fight him.“I’m scaring the heavyweights each and every time,” Wilder said. “Don’t you see? I am the most feared.

And if I’m not, then I want somebody to shut me up. I want somebody to prove that to me. I wanna be proven wrong, but for right now, I don’t feel like nobody’s gonna prove me wrong. Who has the guts? He can run [only] for so long, for so far.”
