A non-governmental organisation, Child Dignity Foundation (CDF) will today stage a boxing event tagged ‘Potential’ at the Brian Ayonote Boxing Gymnasium, National Stadium, Lagos.

The championship, a yearly event, will give younger boxers with talents the opportunity to showcase their strength.

The foundation’s aim was at discovering and encouraging young boxing talents while also equipping them with necessary self esteem requisite for courageous living and success in life.

The agency known for child protection, development and advocacy; is committed to the wellbeing of children, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds with the objective of creating value, respect and protection for them.

This year’s contest is in its fourth edition and the head of CDF, Amaja Awogu, says she is inspired by its growing success and the modest contribution it has brought to bear in developing many of the participants.

“Potential started in December 2012 and, during the first edition, we had some outstanding female boxers one of whom is now on scholarship with the Lagos State government.

“In the last edition, one of our sponsors also picked up another good talent for scholarship. This gives us great joy as we continue to provide the platform for the discovery of young talents and see responses towards helping them through fulfilling career in sports and education.”
