Lack of funds may prevent U-23 Eagles’ participation in Toulon Invitational
The dream of Nigeria’s Under-23 Eagles team to participate in next month’s Toulon Football Festival may be in jeopardy. The €80,000 fee needed to feature in the tournament in the South of France may not be available due to lack of fund by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The team would have used the football tourney to fine-tune, as it prepares for the football event of Rio Olympics. “It looks very likely Nigeria will pull out of the Toulon tournament because the NFF cannot afford the €80,000 needed for the team’s participation,” a top official of the football body told AfricanFootball.com.
“It would be a massive setback in the team’s preparation for the Olympics, because several of the teams for Rio will finalise their build-up at this competition.”
