The Local Organising Committee Chairman for the CAF Beach Soccer Cup of Nations, tagged Lagos 2016, Seyi Akinwunmi, has assured Nigerians that the Supersand Eagles would win the tournament and pick the ticket to the 2017 World Cup.

The final of the tournament has been scheduled for Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Eko Atlantic City.

Akinwunmi, who is also the vice-president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), said the Supersand Eagles are prepared to face the stiff challenges from the top contenders for the FIFA World Cup at the Lagos 2016 Beach Nations Cup. He urged Nigerians to come out in full to support the Supersand Eagles to victory.

He said: “The friendly match the Supersand Eagles played against Switzerland at the Copa Lagos helped to tune up the character of the team and improved them technical… these were very obvious in the team’s matches played so far in the competition. Despite losing 3-1 on penalties to Cote d’Ivoire, after playing a 4-4 draw at the end of regulation time, the Supersand Eagles are still favourites to win the title and grab the slot to play at the Bahamas 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.”
