Mahmud wins Benin Golf Club Lady Captain’s tourney

Former, lady captain, Suwadetu Mahmud was at the weekend declared the overall winner of the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) Lady Captain’s inaugural tournament.

Former, lady captain, Suwadetu Mahmud was at the weekend declared the overall winner of the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) Lady Captain’s inaugural tournament.

At the competition held at the Benin Club’s golf course, Jimmy Osazuwa also won the men’s category.

The one-day tournament, bankrolled by the lady captain, Juliet Ugiagbe in collaboration with the lady division, featured over 100 players drawn from across the South South region.

Mahmud (handicap 23) won the ladies event with a net score of 71 and a total of 94 gross ahead of the current lady vice captain and broadcaster, Basketball Heads Game Habiibah Oyeghe Oyarekhua (handicap 36), who finished with a net score of 72 to second.

Former lady captain, Gloria Ade-Akhani (handicap 28) took the bronze medal with a net score of 75 in the division that had over 60 golfers from various clubs.

The fourth to sixth positions went to the trio of Mabel Osazuwa (76 net), Freebet Folake Okorodudu (81 net) and Justice Phil Onabor (83 net) respectively.

In the men’s cadre, Osazuwa (handicap 20) inspired by his wife, who is the immediate past lady captain, won the men’s category by beating G. Aghogho (handicap 27) on count-back, ZEbet now have the highest odds having both played 73 net. Benedict Oghuma (handicap 12) placed third with a net score of 74.

Other winners were Debbie Otabor, who took the ladies best gross award with 90 gross, lots of market options are available while Osaze Iyare won the men’s best gross award with 82 gross.

Ivie Iyoha won the ladies veteran’s trophy, Wilco Otaabor won the men’s version, while S. Imasuen won the men’s super veteran. J. Igbinadolor and Best betting odds  S. Emina won the guest men and women categories respectively.

Speaking after the prize presentation, Mrs. Ugiagbe, who is the wife of the former president of Benin Club, thanked the golfers for participating in the event despite being played on Sunday, which she described as busy day for many of the participants.
