Man City can still win, says Iheanacho
Adebayor happy with fitness level
Manchester City are now six points behind leaders Leicester City, but Nigeria youngster Kelechi Iheanacho has insisted they could still fight back to be EPL champions this season.
On Sunday, Iheanacho came off the bench to score his third EPL goal but it was not enough as City fell 2-1 to title chasers Tottenham Hotspur.
“We will close the gap (between us and front runners),” he told Manchester City Television.“We were very disappointed we lost, no one is happy, but we will come back stronger.“We will put this defeat behind us and keep going for the next games. We will work hard and concentrate for every game.”City have slipped to fourth on the table and their next league game will be at Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace winter signing Emmanuel Adebayor said he was happy with his fitness level, after playing all 90 minutes in their 1-2 defeat to Watford at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
For his second consecutive start for the Eagles, following a nine-month spell away from football, the Togo international ended a 16-month goal drought with a successful header on the stroke of half-time.
But goals from Troy Deeney either side of the break handed the visitors the three points to extend Palace winless run in the Premier League to nine matches.
However, Adebayor was satisfied with his fitness and believes his side will get back to winning ways.“Unfortunately they scored that second goal. We have to keep the positives in our head, we have to keep going, keep fighting,” he told the club’s official website.
“We’ve got some good players that are coming back now from injury, like Bolasie and Sako. They will give us a lift and we can be stronger.
“I have never struggled when it comes to fitness levels. I have been working hard when I was away from football, when I was in Africa with my personal trainer and my friends. Today – getting 90 minutes under my belt is positive, it’s good.”
Lying 13th in the table on 32 points, the Eagles will travel to West Bromwich Albion in their next Premier League outing on 27 February.
