Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, and other invited players for the group opening match against Zambia are expected to arrive camp today.

The players will today begin preparations for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier encounter, scheduled for Ndola, Zambia this weekend.According to the team Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, some of the players could not make it to the country yesterday because of some matches they played for their clubs.

He said the preparations for the crucial tie are in top gears, as the team manager Gernot Rohr has started mapping out strategies to run down the Zambians away from home.

Ibitoye assured that the players would be given the best support from all quarters to secure victory in Zambia. He also called on Nigerians to pray for the team’s success, saying that all hands must be on deck to ensure that Super Eagles come out victorious in the match.

“The camp officially opens Monday (today) and the coaches would start training with them… But if they are not enough players on ground, they would start on Tuesday,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, former Super captain, Henry Nwosu, has said the game against Zambia will be tough, as the home team is expected to use every antic within its disposal to counter the Nigerian side to pick the vital three points.

He said the Eagles may not have enough time to work with the new Eagles foreign manager before the game. He, however, advised that the players must give their best to run away with a victory in Ndola.

“The game against Zambia is not predictable because the Eagles have to fight like wounded lions to beat Zambia. Based on the performance of the Eagles in their last match, I believe the they now have players that will rise up to occasion at any moment. Rohr and the players needs to be given the best of support to triumph at the end of the day the match,’’ he said.
