THE Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA) has commenced preparations to ensure a good outing at the forthcoming World Softball Championship billed to hold in Oklahoma, United States between August 9 and 15.

The NBSA’s Secretary, Kehinde Laniyan, said the exercise would be in three-phases, starting with a 10-day camp scheduled to start in Port Harcourt on June 10, while the second and third phase will hold in Ilorin and Abuja respectively.

The country is in pool A alongside Japan, China, Ecuador and Great Britain.

According to Laniyan: “We are in the same group with the defending champions, Japan, and the other countries in our group are also good in softball.

“We don’t want to leave any stone unturned and that is why the NBSA executive members have decided to have this long camping.

“Our technical officials will be able to work thoroughly with the selected players for the 40 days duration in camp.”

Laniyan, who added that the association had already held tryouts for players in the South- South and South-West Zones respectively, said the body had increased its sponsorship drive to ensure that the team gets the needed support ahead of the championship.
