The NCC Tennis League matches taking place tomorrow and Sunday at the Port Harcourt and the Onitsha Sports Clubs will feature four teams parading current and present national tennis champions.

This will meet one of the objectives of the league, which is to take top level tennis to cities that hitherto did not have the opportunity of hosting such tennis tournaments.

In Port Harcourt, Team Kalotari, led by former Nigeria’s number one, Sunday Maku and current number four, Nonso Madueke, will host 2015 CBN Senior Tennis champion, Thomas Otu and national number eight seed, Sunday Emmanuel, who play for Team FCT.

The clash in Onitsha will be between Team Anambra, which has reinforced with former Nigeria number one, Clifford Enosoregbe, and Team Offikwu from Kaduna, which is coming to the tie with Sylvester Emmanuel, Nigeria’s number two player and defending champion of the Dala Hard Court, former national champion, Sunday Emmanuel, as well as doubles specialist, Albert Bicom.

The matches are scheduled to start at 10.00 a.m. at the two venues on both days.

The 10 teams participating in this year’s edition have been divided into two round robin groups – the White and Blue groups – with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semifinals.
