It is the type of story that gladdens the heart of players and golf enthusiasts.

The Minna Cantonment Golf Club has delivered its 18-hole greens, which has now placed it among Nigeria’s elite golf clubs.

The clubhouse has also been rebuilt, meaning that golfers are in for good times at the club.

Thrilled by the new look of his club, Minna Club Captain, Adamu Jagaba enthused during the week that it is now ripe and ready to host tournaments of any magnitude.

He acknowledged that the club initially found it difficult to complete the project, adding, however, that donations from the members and other stakeholders saw to the delivery of the project.

“I am so happy at the moment that our efforts so far has yielded a very good result in the completion of the course greens.

We now have full 18 holes green and our golf house is wearing a new look.

“So, the course is as good as any first class course one can think of anywhere and we can host any tournament at any level henceforth.

“Some of the stakeholders sponsored the holes – some sponsored up to three of the greens construction,” he said.

He disclosed that Minna would soon host a major tournament before the end of the year despite the prevailing economic situation.

Jagaba added, “the economic situation has been a very tight one, but we are trying our best to ensure we get sponsors to host a major tournament before the year runs out.”
