The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) has postponed the third Governor Dickson National Wrestling Classics due to the World Cup currently ongoing in Russia.

The championship was earlier scheduled to hold between June 24 and 30 at the Indoor Sports Hall of Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Making the disclosure yesterday, the Secretary General of the Federation Mohammed Libata, said the shift in date was due to the absence of major stakeholders, who are currently in Russia for the Mundial.

Libata, however, said the classics will hold in August, on a yet to be disclosed date after due consultation.

Over 500 wrestlers from the states of the federation and clubs are expected to take part in the championship that will feature bouts in Greco Roman, freestyle and women wrestling in the senior categories (20 years and above) and also in the cadet (15 to 17 years) class only.
