Anambra State Governor, Willy Obiano has joined the movement for actualisation of Enugu Rangers’ bid to win the AITEO Cup this year by providing more than 22 buses to convey fans to Asaba to cheer the club in the final of the competition where they will meet Kano Pillars.

Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Political Matters, Chika Nzelu, who was twice the chairman of Rangers International Supporters Club, said the governor’s gesture was in line with the average Igboman’s belief that the club is not just a football club but also a way of life and religion for the people.

“After our triumph in 2016 at the NPFL after a long wait, we celebrated a lot and with the victory over Nasarawa United in Kano at the semifinal stage, I believe the stage is set for another celebration.

Our governor is an ardent supporter of Rangers and there is great opportunity for him to watch the match live with members of his cabinet,” Nzelu said.Enugu Rangers last won the title, formerly Challenge Cup, in 1983 when they defeated the defunct Ranchers Bees through a penalty shoot out at the National Stadium, Lagos. They will meet Kano Pillars in the fin al of this year’s competition on October 24 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
