Seye Ogunlewe was not fast enough to claim a podium finish at the Commonwealth games in Gold Coast.

The 26-year old clocked a similar time to bronze medalist, Yohan Blake, but the Jamaican crossed the line before Ogunlewe.

However, the sprinter, who almost missed out on the tournament altogether due to a squabble with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria raced to a Season’s Best of 10.19s.

South Africa claimed both Gold and Silver in the event as Akani Simbine finished first in 10.03s while Henricho Bruintjies crossed the line at 10.17s.

Ogunlewe, who started in lane 2 ran alongside compatriot Enoch Adegoke, who finished seventh while Britain’s Adam Gemili withdrew due to injury.

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, hours earlier won Nigeria’s first Track and Field medal finishing second in the Shot put event. He thew a Personal Best of 21.14m to win the Silver medal.
