Okowa, Obaseki to grace final of Felix Anirah football tournament in Sapele

Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his Edo State counterpart, Godwin Obaseki, are expected to grace the final of this year’s Felix Anirah football tournament (FAFT), which will hold on October 27 at the Sapele Township Stadium.

Delta State representative, Ejele Academy, will battle against Edo State finalist, Sporting Dreams, in the final billed for 2pm.Host of the tournament, Chief Felix Anirah, says the final day of the competition, a grassroots tournament, would be a ‘festival of football.’

“This final will be a festival of football, and I am looking forward to see the governor of both Delta and Edo state leading support for their respective teams. We are also expecting other special guest of honour, including Olorugun Charlse Obule. They will be on ground to witness why they need to invest and support grassroots sports. I am also looking forward to see the president of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick at the final.”

Ejele Academy, which knocked out other top teams, including J Atete FC and Future Stars FC, is hoping to face a stiff challenge from Sporting Dreams Football Club of Edo State, which saw off big names like Iwere FC and Akoma Academy on their way to the final.

Anirah was full of appreciation to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, Tonobok Okowa, for releasing the sports facilities (Sapele Township Stadium) free of charge for the final of the tournament.
