The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Babatunde Ogunwusi, is expected to be the special guest of honour at the 2016 Ikeja Golf Club Captain’s Day competition, a weeklong tournament put in place to mark the end of tenure of Air Commodore Tokunbo Ajomale (rtd), the captain of Ikeja Golf Club.

Oba Ogunwusi will on Saturday lead other traditional rulers and prominent Yoruba sons and daughters to the closing ceremony of the competition, which tees off today with the caddies and staff of the club in action.

In the programme of the event, tomorrow will see the professionals and veteran golfers taking to the greens, while the ladies will take their turn on Wednesday before the special Captain’s kitty on Thursday.

Friday will see amateur golfers take turn on the course in the opening round of their two-day competition.

The golfers will return on Saturday for the closing round, which precedes the special closing ceremony where prizes would be given to excelling players in the evening.

While thanking God for seeing him through his tenure, Air Cdr. Ajomale (rtd) expressed his belief that those coming after him would continue to contribute to the development of the club. He also used the opportunity to thank members for their support throughout his tenure.

“I have enjoyed my time here. I have done my bit and believe that others coming behind me will continue to contribute to the development of the club. I also want to thank all those who stood behind me throughout my 12 months service,” Ajomale added.
